Steve Meet Mickey, Mickey Meet Steve

Posted in General, Apple and Disney 4 years, 6 months ago.

Being such a huge fan of Apple and now working for Disney, I’ve been glued to news sites since reading about the ‘real Mr. Incredible.’ Steve Jobs, owner of Pixar, and Disney seem to be working out a deal worth about $7 billion that would make Jobs the largest private shareholder of Disney stock by about 4%. While Disney buying Pixar seems sensible based Disney’s non-Pixar box office record, no one is quite sure what this will mean for Disney as a corporation but the effects could be huge. BusinessWeek even thinks this could mean that Jobs could eventually assume the position of chairman on Disney’s Board.

Although I think it’s highly unlikely Jobs would become chairman anytime in the near future, having the head of Apple on board could brighten the future of Disney. Talk about a change in philosophies for a company so grounded in tradition. I think it could be a welcome shake up based on Jobs’ track record and what he has done for the once, almost dead Apple. Who knows, maybe I’ll even be using a Mac in the next few months.
