Firefox Saved for OS X

Posted in Applications 4 years, 11 months ago.

One thing that has really bugged me about Firefox for OS X, is it’s inability to side scroll via the two-finger method on newer Powerbook trackpads. Instead, side scrolling in Firefox results in navigating backward or foreward just like you are clicking the back or forward button. It was so bad that it got to the point where I was considering switching back to Safari. Before I did so, I thought I’d do a quick search on the subject which directed me to a thread on the MacRumors forums.

I found this application saving fix for the issue:

Before you proceed, please know that you are editing the config file of Firefox and while you should easily by able to revert to previous settings, I am not responsible if this crashes your browser or even your system.

Type “about:config” in the Firefox address bar. Look for the below fields and change them to match the values below:

mousewheel.horizscroll.withnokey.action to 0
mousewheel.horizscroll.withnokey.numlines to 2
