Konfabulator Now Free

I realize that this might be a slightly mute point, exspecially for ‘Tiger’ users, but it’s good news nonetheless: Konfabulator is now free. Yep, Yahoo! purchased Konfabulator and hired it’s developers Arlo Rose and Vera Brosgol. Although normally I would be very worried for the future of such a program once acquired by such a large corporation, I have a great deal of faith in Yahoo! based on their purchase of Flickr, which has remained exactly the same since their acquisition.

In case your in the dark, Konfabulator is a great piece of software that Apple users have enjoyed for years until Apple stole ‘borrowed’ the idea for ‘Dashboard,’ part of OS X Tiger. Konfabulator allows for useful widgets that range from FTP file uploaders to current weather reports to be placed on the desktop for quick easy access. It’s really a neat thing and something that I know I could barely use a computer without these days so if your still using an old OS X or if your on windows you certainly should give it a shot and download some widgets.
