When Technology Attacks

Posted in Memories, Apple and Web Culture 3 years, 6 months ago.

I love the internet age. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without it. I can get any information I want at the click of a button. But unfortunately it is ruining my life.

If you didn’t figure it out, I recently ordered a 12″ Powerbook that I have wanted for so long. I ordered on Saturday and because of Apple’s order status checker, I quickly realized how obsessive I am and will be about this thing. When I first placed the order, I checked the status a few times that day and a few on Sunday. However, since Sunday I have found myself permanently affixed to apple.com. At this point I might as well make it my home page! Either way, it’s Tuesday night and my Powerbook still hasn’t shipped. And unless the internet gods want to turn me into a psychopathic status checker, it better ship soon.

Update: May 5th
Well, it shipped so I can’t check the Apple site any more but now I have the Fed Ex page now to continuously hit F5 on. Unfortunately, it has been sitting in China for over 24 hours according to the tracking info.
