As you know, I have been extremely upset with EA, publishers of the Madden football series video games, because of an exclusive deal they were able to sign with the NFL for the next 5 years. I even went as far as to send their representatives an e-mail regarding the situation.

Well, they have done it again. This time it’s the NCAA football licensing. EA has signed a 5 year exclusive deal for all NCAA likenesses to use in their NCAA Football series. The deal goes into effect immediately, giving EA a monopoly in all licensed football releases for the next 5 years. Obviously, I don’t think I really need to go into why this is bad and why gamers and even non-gamers should care but rather I would just like to state my disappointment with the NCAA. For an organization that already makes millions of dollars off of college athletes, I think it is wrong in so many ways for them to capitalize of the uses of NCAA likenesses.
