Durability Test

Posted in General and Memories 5 years, 3 months ago.

So about a week ago, I seemed to have misplaced my thumb drive. I noticed immediately because I carry the little 128mb USB do-daddy everywhere. With doing my thesis and studying for tests, I haven’t had much use for it or the time to really look for it.

Long story short, this morning I am grabbing a shirt out of the dry (got to love freshly washed warm shirts) and what fell out? Yep, my thumb drive. Apparently I had left it in the pocket of a seldom worn pair of pants which I washed along with my other clothes. At first I was relieved because I thought I was going crazy but I quickly realized that I WASHED it.

Even still, the drive seemed completely intact and honestly felt like it did even more I gave it a clean. With it completely dry from being in the dryer for more than an hour on high heat, thought I would just attempt to see if my computer could read anything off of it. Amazingly, every single file is completely functional and the drive has been performing perfectly. I was shocked that after a 45+ minute soaking on the spin cycle and a 60+ minute high heat drying that this Memorex thumb drive kept on ticking.
