Free Matt

I wanted to just put it out there that I am behind Matt concerning the noise he’s been getting lately. Don’t forget that WordPress is a free, I repeat FREE application that despite its large community, Matt dedicates most of his time too. He could have easily sold the rights to MSN or Yahoo but he knew what that would have done to the project. Even though his choice wasn’t the best, I can still say I am 100% understanding and supportive of his reasoning and even more so behind his reaction.

I think i would have no problem if he displayed the advertising instead of hiding it.

I agree that not hiding it would have been the best method for what Matt did but I still don’t think he was wrong by hiding it. If he had not hidden the advertising, either the WordPress website would have been littered with ads or even worse pop-up ads or search engine results would have been littered with non-wordpress relevant links. Unfortunately for Matt, hiding the advertising was a huge mistake in the eyes of such search engines as Google and any potential re-listing for WordPress on those engines will require some extensive kissing on Matt’s part.
