Custom Googled News

For the news junkies out there, the popular Google News service has released a user customizable option . You can arrange the news page the way you prefer by placing certain categories above or below others and also adding new categories based on keywords. I tested this feature using the keyword ‘SXSW’ and must say it instantly displayed three news articles from various sources without any extension of load time. You can view more articles by either changing the preferences for your custom sections to display up to nine articles or clicking on the heading for each section, taking you to a standard search for your ‘keyword.’ It’s a pretty simple and effective site but I must say that I am pretty disappointed at the level of customization that Google has empowered the user with. I realize this is not even a day old but one nuance is that on a resolution of 1280×1024, the ‘Top Stories’ portion takes up almost the entire screen with only two of the custom news headlines showing. I’d like the ability to miniaturize certain sections or just show the headlines for a particular section. Check it out for yourself
