Meetup

About 6 months or so ago I stumbled upon Meetup.com. Meetup.com is a site which according to their tag line is used for, “Organizing local interest groups.” Basically, it is a simple site which you can register for and join all type of groups in your local area. The site has a broad range of groups from animal activist to web designers to scrapbookers so your bound to find what your looking for. The design is clean, simple, and robust.

Currently I am a member of the Atlanta Wordpress group, the Athens Graphic Design group, the Athens Web Design group, the Athens Webblogger group, and the Athens Photography group. I have not physically met with any of the groups yet so I can not comment on how that is organized but that will vary based on the who is designated as the ‘group leader.’ Check out the site if you want to meet people with similar interests in your area and let me know your experiences.
