Firefox 1.0.1

Posted in Computers, Applications and Web Culture 3 years, 8 months ago.

Although this is not necessarily major news, it does give me an excuse to promote my favorite web browser. The Mozilla Foundation has just released an update for Firefox 1.0. The new Firefox 1.0.1 [download] deals with certain security issues but unlike Internet Explorer updates, this will actually help the end user.

Get Firefox!

If you are using Internet Explorer, do yourself a huge favor and switch to Firefox. You will be browsing the web with a safer application that completely eliminates pop-ups, browser hi-jacks, and also provides features such as tabbed browsing. And that’s not even mentioning the web standards support it boasts; I could go on all day about that. Join the 26+ million who have “taken back the web.”

In addition to the newest version, I wanted to draw attention to the Mozilla Foundation’s store. I recently purchased the Firefox 1.0 Launch T-shirt and I must say that this is great way to support the Mozilla Foundation. The t-shirt is great quality and it really turns the heads of those aware of Firefox on the street . In the 5 or so days I have worn the shirt, I have had over 20 people either asked where I got it or just give the old, “nice shirt.” Pick one up if donating money isn’t your cup of tea and spread the word.
