Study Time

Stacked BooksI wanted to fill you all in as to why updates and additions to the site have been slow as of late. School has been incredibly overwhelming. Since my spring break, I have really tried to focus on school and each of my classes individually. I am a decent student but right now, I am trying to be a great student. I have had tests, papers, homework, and projects all in the last week continuing through next week.

After next week, it’s time to start preparing for my finals. My final schedule is pretty normal with one exam on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday each. Unfortunately, my two most difficult finals are on Monday and Tuesday. While I wish they were more spread, it gives me more reason to prepare in advance for both exams.

Once finals are complete, I am planning on staying in Athens for the summer and taking one of my major classes while working. Doing this will leave me with only eight total classes to complete during the Fall and Spring of next year. Ok, I’m not sure why I went into that but it’s more about me if you were wondering.

Anyway, please just bear with me during this busy time and continue to visit the site as I try my best to update it as much as possible. Thanks for visiting and for the support.

Not that its a huge deal… but better typography would improve your site 200%… and i only notice cuz IM taking Typography II right now… but an easy, quick book to learn lots of important type rules is “The Mac is Not a Typewriter” by Robin Williams (you can find it for like $10 used…)… yes, it does give lots of keyboard shortcuts for macs, but it is basically just a book of good type rules. (the one i just noticed is that this latest blog has lots of rivers, which are large spaces that appear between words when youre using justified text. typically for a single column of text that is justified, your ideal line length is 66 characters and to be honest i didnt even count yours - and really anywhere between 45 and 75 is fine, but 66 is ideal) wow… yeah sorry. i AM a graphic design student.. IM supposed to notice these things. ;-)

Ok, so the first time I read your post, I was completely lost. But I read it again and it made perfect sense. But ya, that’s one of the limitations and “unfriendly” aspects I have found using justified text for my main column. However, I have yet to find a better way to produce the same results minus the “rivers” as you call them. Maybe if I had a Mac it wouldn’t be an issue…maybe. Thanks for the book recommendation, I will absolutely check it out!
